LLOYD'S

616 MASS. AVE, NW

WASHINGTON, 1, DC

Research by Jay Bruder and Kip Lornell

No firm dates have been established for the LLOYD'S label of Washington, DC.  The pressings resemble other records pressed at Paragon Enterprises at Chevy Chase Lake on Connecticut Ave, North West circa 1947-1950.  Several years ago Kip Lornell went to find the address listed on the Lloyd's label, but the building had recently been demolished.  The December 1949 telephone directory has an advertisement for Lloyd's Novelty and Curio Shop at the address.

A 500 and a1000 series have been identified for Lloyd's Spiritual Records of Washington, D.C.  The numbering sequence in the 500 series does not appear to be consecutive (If it is consecutive, there are a lot of records awaiting discovery). All releases identified to date are African-American Gospel.

There is another Lloyds of NYC associated with Apollo Records.  These labels are not related.
